After my very first yoga lesson my instinct was to share this incredible practice I'd discovered. I'd never felt so relaxed, so calm and so peaceful. That's why this site is called 'shanti spirit', because 'shanti' in sanskrit simply means 'peace'.
After many years of my own practice, I spent 3 years studying with the British Wheel of Yoga learning about postures, breathing, anatomy, physiology and the roots of yoga in philosophy. Followed by another year learning about integrating yoga practice into pregnancy, birth and motherhood. More recently I travelled to India to experience yoga in its homeland.
My learning continues with researching, reading, studying with different teachers in different aspects of yoga - from anatomy to meditation, from mantra to mudras. I'm privileged to continue learning every day from other teachers, from my students, from my own practice and from life.
I'm a member of the Register of Exercise Professionals at Level 3, fully insured and CRB checked for working with children as well as holding a current first aid certificate from St John's Ambulance. I'm very happy to provide evidence, or talk about my training and experience too.
What style?
I teach gentle hatha yoga that can be adapted to meet your needs by drawing inspiration from many yoga traditions like viniyoga, Iyengar, Sivananda and Satyananda.
If you're curious about what actually happens in a yoga class, have a look at the 'what to expect' page which also includes some frequently asked questions.
