Yoga for pregnancy, birth and beyond

Yoga for Pregnancy is a gentle practice specifically tailored for mums-to-be. There's no need to have done any yoga before.

You are welcome to start practicing from 14 weeks onwards. Until then, follow your body's instinct to rest and relax as often as you can.

If your baby was conceived with IVF treatment, or you've miscarried before, it might be better to wait a little longer - call me for a chat about what's best for you and your baby.

Yoga for pregnancy will teach you postures, breathing, relaxation and visualisation to help you throughout pregnancy and, most importantly for labour and birth. These techniques can  help relieve pain, reduce the length of your labour, keep your baby well supplied with oxygen as well as provide a calmer, more relaxed birthing experience.

Classes are held on Mondays at 8pm at Sketchley Primary School in Burbage during term time. You can pay as you go to class at £6, or buy four classes for £20. There's no need to wait for a new term, come along when you're ready. Check the dates here.

There's a facebook group where I post up suggestions for practice and answer yoga pregnancy questions. Join us!

Shanti Spirit Yoga for Pregnancy is recommended by Holly Matthews, star of Byker Grove, Waterloo Road and Casualty. Read her review on FamouslyFit.com

The beat of a heart is the rhythm of the universe

"It was a water birth with no additional pain relief other than a little gas & air for stage 2. My yoga breathing really saved the day & helped keep me & baby calm throughout. Thanks for all your help!" Natalie

"The breathing learnt at yoga really helped, thanks. Especially the golden thread breath. It was all really relaxed and I was only in labour for just over four hours."
